I Hope You Receive Lots This Christmas!
Sunday, January 29, Worship Service
Who are those who receive the most blessings and joy? After watching people here at Prince of Peace and working in your midst, it seems to me the ones who get the most are the ones who give the most! It’s hard to keep up with all the ways you are sharing with your neighbor and those with extra needs.
- Coats and warm clothing – Bread of Life Mission – barrel in narthex
- Backpacks and school supplies – fully outfitted 74 children this fall
- Sock drive – 100 pair for Peace Shelter and Compass Center
- Compass Center – gift cards and clothes
- Community Turkey meal and new clothing and gifts distribution – 168 people
- Thanksgiving baskets – meals – 32 of them this year – turkey and all
- The Giving Tree – Christmas gifts, dozens and dozens of them for needy families
- Special Offerings for Lutheran Campus Ministry UW, Tape Ministries NW, Bread of Life Mission, Father’s Ranch Ministries
- Uganda Mission trip – church benches, grain mill, health clinic, worship & meals
- Under-the-Bridge trips to Seattle with food, blankets, and encouragement
- Hospitality House – kitchen and office supplies and clothing, meals.
- Tutoring – snacks, beverages, and supplies
- Quilts – you quilters have provided warmth and health care, for decades. Wow
- WELCA projects each month to fill the gaps
You get the point. And those of you doing these tasks are smiling and challenging each other on how to do more. I hear no complaining, just excitement.
From some of the responses we have received from our friends and neighbors who have benefitted from these projects we can conclude the recipients of gifts are blessed immensely also. So who is most blessed, the giver or the receiver? Or is it a tie? Either way, I hope you are part of it all.
Thank you, God, for giving your people hearts which can’t help but recognize their blessings, both of giving and receiving.
